'Chiekosho' (Selections on Chieko) is the most beautiful collection of poems in Japanese literary history, in which sculptor and poet Takamura Kotaro sang of his love for his beloved wife, Naganuma Chieko, her illness, and her death. Sharing high ambitions as artists, the two married and started an artistic life of deep mutual trust, albeit in poverty.
