Kimoto was a poor fisherman who risked his life daily pulling nets in the harsh nature and wild seas of Hokkaido. The fishermen around him were chased by labor just to survive, viewing drawing merely as 'a useless, unprofitable pastime.' Amidst such loneliness and lack of understanding, Kimoto alone harbored a fierce passion for painting in his chest.
