両方の(りょうほうの)耳(みみ)

The head priest wrote protective sutras all over Hoichi's body. However, he forgot to write them on his ears. At night, when the ghost came, Hoichi's body was invisible due to the sutra's power, but only his ears were visible. The ghost ripped his ears off and carried them away. Since then, he came to be called 'Hoichi the Earless'.
