Takasebune is a small boat that travels up and down the Takase River in Kyoto. During the Tokugawa period, this boat was also used to carry sinners exiled to distant islands. One night, a man named Kisuke, who was said to have killed his younger brother, was put on the boat along with Haneda Shobei, a government official.
