Recalling that good deed, the Buddha thought of saving Kandata from Hell. Taking a single thread of a spider in Paradise, he lowered it straight down toward the bottom of Hell. Kandata, struggling in the darkness of Hell, looked up and spotted the shining spider's thread descending from above.
