忠兵衛(ちゅうべえ)の故郷(こきょう)の「新口村(にのくちむら)」で、逃避行は「道行(みちゆき)」と呼ばれる

Once the use of the public funds was discovered by officials, Chubei and Umekawa became fugitives and fled Osaka. They headed for Chubei's birthplace, Ninokuchi Village in Yamato Province. Their escape, traveling under the eyes of pursuers in the cold winter wind, is narrated in beautiful prose known as 'Michiyuki'.
