Long, long ago, there was a man called the Bamboo Cutter. He used to go into the fields and mountains to harvest bamboo, using it for all kinds of purposes. One day, he went into the mountains and found a glowing stalk of bamboo. Wondering at it, he approached and looked inside; the tube was shining. There, a tiny person of about three sun (nine centimeters) was sitting beautifully.
