Leaving behind letters of gratitude to the old man and the Emperor, as well as an elixir of immortality, Kaguya-hime was dressed in a celestial feather robe, lost her memories of this world, and quietly returned to the moon. The old man grieved deeply, and the Emperor ordered the elixir burned on the highest mountain in Japan. That is said to be the origin of the name 'Mount Fuji' (immortal mountain).
