One day, the powerful Lord of Horikawa commands Yoshihide to 'paint a hell screen (Jigokuhen) depicting the horrific scenes of hell.' Because Yoshihide held the bizarre conviction that he could only paint what he had actually seen with his own eyes, he chained and bound his disciples, letting large snakes attack them, executing crazy drawings while attempting to recreate hell.
