Shinji and Chiyosuke were put onto the cargo ship 'Utajimamaru' owned by Terukichi for a test of working in the rough seas. One day, a violent typhoon struck the ship in the Pacific Ocean, snapping the mooring ropes and threatening to sink the vessel. While everyone else was paralyzed by fear of death, Shinji threw himself into the wild waves, swimming to secure the rope, showing great bravery and saving the ship and all lives on board.
