八ヶ岳(やつがたけ)の美しい高原にある「サナトリウム」(長期療養所)

The protagonist, 'I,' and his beautiful fiancée, Setsuko, were deeply in love. However, Setsuko was afflicted with severe pulmonary tuberculosis, an incurable deadly disease of that era. Although her illness gradually worsened, 'I' swore to live together with her, and the two headed for a sanatorium (a long-term medical treatment facility) located on the beautiful highlands of Mount Yatsugatake.
