'Seedlings' (Wakana-shu) is an immortal debut poetry collection written by Toson Shimazaki in the Meiji period, announcing the brilliant dawn of modern Japanese romantic poetry. In particular, 'First Love' (Hatsukoi) within it is the most continuously beloved bible of first love in Japan, beginning with the extremely beautiful and pure literary style verse: 'When you, with your hair just newly swept up, appeared beneath the apple tree, I thought of you, with the flower-adorned comb in your hair, as a flower itself.'
