'We are humans! Not slaves!' In response to one laborer's call, everyone stood up, and unprecedented large-scale strike was organized on Hakuko Maru. Unifying as one, the laborers abandoned their duties, fiercely resisting and demanding 'an end to Asakawa's violence,' 'reduction of working hours,' and 'improvement of food.' Panicked, Asakawa was rendered powerless, and it seemed the laborers had broken his dominance with their own power.
