【社外(しゃがい)：会社(かいしゃ)にかかってきた電話(でんわ)の応対(おうたい)】 「申(もう)し訳(わけ)ございません。担当(たんとう)の山田(やまだ)はただいま席(せき)を外(はず)しておりますが、15時(じ)には「戻ります」。」

「戻ります」 is the polite form of 「戻る」 (to return). When speaking to external parties about an in-group member's actions, and there isn't a specific honorific or humble form for the verb, the polite form is often used to convey professionalism and courtesy.

「戻る」の丁寧語です。社外の人に対して、自社の担当者の行動を伝える際に使います。謙譲語がない場合に丁寧語を用いる表現です。
