The princess, now called 'Hachikazuki' (meaning bowl-wearer), wandered crying in the cold world. She attempted to throw herself into a river, but the bowl floated, and she could not die. Eventually, she was given a job boiling bathwater at a kind nobleman's mansion and worked very hard.
