'Run, Melos!' is a masterpiece of modern Japanese literature written by Osamu Dazai in the Showa period, depicting the absolute preciousness of friendship and trust. Melos, a simple shepherd, visited the city of Syracuse for his sister's wedding, where he learned of the misrule of the cruel tyrant Dionysius, who executed many innocent people out of deep distrust of humans, filling Melos with fierce rage.
