'No Longer Human' (Ningen Shikkaku) is an immortal masterpiece written by Osamu Dazai during the Showa period, portraying the confession of a soul tormented by fear of others and alienation. The protagonist, Yozo Oba, since childhood, could not understand human hypocrisy or true feelings, harboring constant terror toward those around him. To hide that fear, he chose the path of playing the 'clown' (acting silly on purpose) and living behind a mask.
