'Gongitsune' (Gon, the Little Fox) is a monumental work of Japanese children's literature written by Nankichi Niimi in the Showa era. A mischievous little fox named Gon lived making trouble in the village. One autumn day, Gon found a village youth named Hyoju working hard in the river catching fish and a large eel with a cast net, and to tease him, Gon released all the caught prey back into the river.
