Last month, the students at Midori Junior High School started a new project called "Clean Our Town." They wanted to do something good for the environment. First, they decided to clean up the beach near their school. Many people visit the beach in the summer, but they often leave plastic bottles and bags on the sand. This is very dangerous for sea animals. On Sunday morning, fifty students and ten teachers gathered at the beach. They wore gloves and carried large garbage bags. They worked for three hours and collected a lot of garbage. After they finished, the beach looked very beautiful. Next month, the students are planning to plant trees in the park. Mr. Tanaka, a science teacher, said, "I am very proud of our students. They are working hard to protect nature." The students hope that more people will join their project in the future.
