💡 Nuance & Usage:
The fastest type of regular train service (excluding Shinkansen or super express trains) in Japan, stopping only at major stations. Even faster than 急行 (kyūkō) and usually requires a special fare. 急行よりも停車駅が少なく、最も速い種別で、通常は特急料金が必要です。
