Capsule Hotel Locker System (ロッカーの利用 - Rokkā)
The essential storage system at Japanese capsule hotels. Because the sleeping pods are small, all heavy luggage, shoes, and street clothes must be stored in your designated, key-locked locker ('Rokkā') in a separate room.
Invented by architect Kisho Kurokawa in 1979. To maximize space and provide cheap sleep cabins, capsule hotels separate the sleeping zone from storage entirely, keeping the sleeping pods completely clutter-free and clean.
Upon check-in, you receive a key wristband with a locker number. Head to the locker room, store your bags and shoes, change into the provided loungewear (Samue/pajamas), and wear disposable slippers. Take only your phone/wallet to your pod.
