英語の「substitute」を日本語で表現する際、代わり と 代替 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
代わり は主に「かわり (kawari)（N3）」として使われ、Used when one thing takes the place of another. It can be a noun (a substitute) or part of a phrase like 「～の代わりに」(instead of ~) or 「～の代わりをする」(to act as a substitute for ~).を指します。
