決定的なニュアンスの違い・使い分け
英語の「reason」を日本語で表現する際、理由 と いわく では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
理由 は主に「りゆう (riyū)（N4）」として使われ、A noun referring to the cause or explanation for something. Often used with なぜ (naze - why) or から (kara - because).を指します。
一方、いわく は「いわく (iwaku)（N2）」として使用され、Often used to introduce something mysterious, suspicious, or with a specific backstory. Can also mean 'according to...' when quoting someone, often with skepticism. (曰くつきの品のように、何か特別な事情や由来があることを示す場合や、人の言葉を引用する際に使われる。)を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
