英語の「open」を日本語で表現する際、通じる と 打ち解ける では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
通じる は主に「つうじる (tsuujiru)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to signals/calls connecting, roads opening/leading to a place, meaning being understood by others, or communicating feelings. 一方、打ち解ける は「うちとける (uchitokeru)（N2）」として使用され、To become less reserved, more relaxed and informal with someone, moving from a formal or tense state to a more comfortable and open one. Often used with the particle 「に」.を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
