英語の「misunderstanding」を日本語で表現する際、誤解 と 思い違い では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
誤解 は主に「ごかい (gokai)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to misunderstanding or misinterpreting someone's words, intentions, or actions. Can be used with する as a verb (誤解する). 一方、思い違い は「おもいちがい (omoichigai)（N2）」として使用され、Refers to having a different or incorrect understanding from reality or someone else's intention. (現実や相手の意図と異なる、間違った理解をしていることを指す)を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
