英語の「isolation」を日本語で表現する際、孤立 と 隔絶 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
孤立 は主に「こりつ (koritsu)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to isolation, helplessness, being stranded physically, or feeling friendless/isolated in a group. 一方、隔絶 は「かくぜつ (kakuzetsu)（N2）」として使用され、物理的な距離や、大きな違いによって生じる隔たりや分離を表します。場所や抽象的な概念にも使われます。(Refers to separation or remoteness caused by physical distance or significant differences. Can be used for places or abstract concepts.)を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
