決定的なニュアンスの違い・使い分け
英語の「great」を日本語で表現する際、えらい と 多大 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
えらい は主に「えらい (erai)（N3）」として使われ、Used to praise someone's achievement, effort, or character. Often used when complimenting children for doing something well. Can also refer to someone in a high position.を指します。
一方、多大 は「ただい (tadai)（N2）」として使用され、Used to describe a very large amount of abstract things like influence, damage, effort, or support. Not typically used for physical objects. (抽象的な影響、損害、努力、支援など、非常に大きい量を表す際に使われます。物理的なものにはあまり使いません。)を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
