決定的なニュアンスの違い・使い分け
英語の「goodwill」を日本語で表現する際、厚意 と 善意 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
厚意 は主に「こうい (kōi)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to goodwill, kindness, or favor received from a superior or another person (highly respectful/polite). Often used as ご厚意 (your kindness) or 厚意に甘える (to accept someone's kind offer). ⚠️ Haruka's Voice Column: 'Kindness! Goodwill! S-So what if I made this sweet hot chocolate for you?! 一方、善意 は「ぜんいい (zen'i)（N3）」として使用され、Refers to goodwill, kind intentions, or good faith shown toward others. (Also has a legal meaning of 'unawareness of a fact', but general N3 tests goodwill).
