決定的なニュアンスの違い・使い分け
英語の「generally」を日本語で表現する際、大概 と 概して では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
大概 は主に「たいがい (taigai)（N3）」として使われ、Can be used as an adverb or a な-adjective. Expresses a high probability or majority. Often used when talking about habits or common situations. (大体 (daitai) is similar but perhaps a bit more casual.)を指します。
一方、概して は「がいして (gaishite)（N1）」として使用され、Used when making a general statement or observation that is true for the most part, though there might be exceptions. Similar to 「一般的に言って」 or 「全体的に見て」. (例外はあるものの、全体的に見てそうである、という一般的な傾向を述べる際に使われます。)を表現します。アメリカ人学習者が直訳で最も間違えやすいポイントですので、違いを意識しましょう。
