英語の「envy」を日本語で表現する際、妬む と 羨望 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
妬む は主に「ねたむ (netamu)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to envying someone, being jealous of their success, popularity, or happiness, and harboring resentful feelings (very close to 嫉妬する).
