英語の「be」を日本語で表現する際、捕まる と 意識する では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
捕まる は主に「つかまる (tsukamaru)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to being caught by someone, arrested by the police, or captured. Also means holding onto a rail or support. Intransitive verb. Opposing word: 捕まえる.
