英語の「association」を日本語で表現する際、つきあい と 連想 では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
つきあい は主に「つきあい (tsukiai)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to social relationships, keeping company, or dating as a couple. Often used as 人付き合い or 交際（お付き合い）する. ⚠️ Haruka's Voice Column: 'Socializing!
