英語の「ascertain」を日本語で表現する際、確かめる と 突き止める では明確なニュアンスの使い分けが存在します。
確かめる は主に「たしかめる (tashikameru)（N3）」として使われ、Refers to actively verifying, checking, or confirming facts, data, or settings to be sure.
